The church is closed for the 2021 season.
The Eglise de la Nativité is a Romanesque building from the 12th and 13th centuries. It houses a series of frescoes portraying devils and demons from the 15th century. Each wall and vault of the chancel portrays scenes throughout the history of the bible: annunciation, evangelists, etc. The wall paintings are listed Historic Monuments.
The arch of the chancel is decorated with a calendar representing the twelve months of the year with scenes of everyday life. One of the vaults is devoted to hell. A Beelzebub is making a dinner of damned souls, bubbling away in a pot. While waiting for them to cook, the beast is playing the drum with two legs. Prelates, saints and the Christ all compete with each other, but Heaven remains firmly guarded.
The church is open all year round, no bookings are needed. Free tours are organised for the European Heritage Days.
